Veterans Affairs BAY Panama City Vet Center

Department of Veterans Affairs

General Information
Description of ServiceThe Bay County Vet Center is Federal; we work directly for the Department of Veterans Affairs but are separate from the Health and Benefits Administration. We provide counseling services to Combat Veterans, victims of Military Sexual trauma, families who've lost their military member while on active duty, National Guard and Reservists who are coming back from deployment to combat zones, Widows and widowers of Veterans who pass away, and as of summer 2013 Active Duty members who served in combat zones as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. We are also unique in the fact that we can provide counseling to the family members of our Veterans/clients. What makes us special is that we create an environment that is very casual, low threat, zero cost, and most importantly very, very confidential. We provide them a place to feel safe and secure and talk to a licensed counselor who is also a Veteran! Our goal is to help prevent suicides as best we can and help trauma Veterans adjust back to a normal life.
Urgent Services Providedindividual and group counseling for veterans and their families, family counseling for military related issues, bereavement counseling for families who experience an active duty death, military sexual trauma counseling and referral, outreach and education, grief counseling for widow & widowers of Veterans who pass away
